Troubleshoot installing Office

Let’s find out what you can do if updates are not installed automatically, and what factors can cause update issues. Always define a recovery email address when configuring your Office 365 account. If an incorrect password is entered multiple times, after several unsuccessful login attempts, your Office 365 account will be locked.

Upgrade or switch Office 365 plans

To help you set up your organization, see Set up Office 365 for business – Admin Help. If activation failures began after you upgraded to Windows 10, see Office error code 0x8004FC12 when activating Office. When you install Office for Mac, the app icons aren’t automatically added to the dock. To add to the dock, drag the app icon from the Launchpad or the Applications folder. You might get an error that has a number and maybe some descriptive text.

Upgrade to Office 2016

If your admin has given you permission to install updates, see Install Office updates. If you’re looking for the steps to download and install the latest version of Office, see Install Office on your PC or Mac. If Office is taking a long time to install you may be on a slow connection. You may get an error if you try to install the 64-bit version of Office and you currently have the 32-bit version installed (or vice versa). Some of them allow users to get updates before the main release while others provide updates at a later time. The update channel used by Office 365 depends on your Office 365 subscription plan and on configuration. Check the version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer and your subscription name and expiry date. Office 365 applications installed on a computer must connect to Microsoft servers over the internet at least once every 30 days for the license to be checked and validated. If you don’t connect the installed Office 365 applications to Microsoft servers for more than 30 days in a row, these applications are deactivated. Once a connection is established to Microsoft licensing servers, the license is renewed.

• Upon restart if you are still receiving an error message, it might be time to confirm your subscription status for Office.
• If you’re an IT Pro and you want to deploy Office in your organization, use the Office Deployment Tool to download the Office software to your local network.
• Use the Microsoft 365 sign-in troubleshooter to help resolve sign-in issues encountered with Microsoft 365.

The important thing here to remember is that not all problems are caused by bugs or inappropriate coding on the vendor site. The more probable option is that the Office 365 issue occurs, and can be fixed on the client-side. Microsoft 365 provides online services and server products for your business with solutions for small to enterprise scale. Account or sign in issues

Office 365 Service Health is an online tool, available for organizations, accessible only by administrators, in Office 365 Admin Center. There you can see possible Office 365 issues, and advice on how you can resolve them. If you try to enter the wrong password too many times, and you didn’t set up a recovery email you can lock access to your account.

This error appears when you attempt to upload or save a Microsoft 365 item. It indicates that you have reached the storage limit specified by your subscription plan. File and storage issues with Microsoft Office 365 are more serious than other issues.
